19th May 2012

On Saturday 19 May 2012 Templeton High School played rugby against various schools, namely Bedford Primary, Middellande SSS and Wittedrif.  Four teams, under 15A and B as well as under 19 A & B, were pitted against each other.

 The results were as follow:

 Under 15B against Bedford Primary Under 15A: - won the game 14 – 0.

Tries were scored by: Bobotyani Siwongiwe and Ayabulela Mankile. Lusindiso Makinana converted both tries.

This was a very hard fought victory where both teams gave their absolute best, with the game in balance until the final whistle.

 Under 15A against Middellande under 15A: - won the game 11 – 5

Try was scored by: Sive Labi. Tyson Kasper and Sive Labi Both kicked a penalty.

The game was a stop-start affair with lots of errors made, especially by the home team. It was a close contest and again was only decided in the final minutes of the game..

 2nd Team against Middellande 2nd Team: - lost the game 0 - 21

The 2nd team gave their best, but unfortunately it was not enough as they played against a must tougher opponent. Although they lost there was lots of positives that could be taken from the game.

 TIGGAZ against Wittedrif 1st Team: - won 17 – 15

Tries were scored by: Sihle Jantjie (x2). Elroy Arends converted both tries and also kicked a penalty.

This was a closely contested game. It was won by the talented backline of the home team and a very good defence.  They never allowed Wittedrif to build some momentum. Two excellent tries were scored by Sihle Jantjie and numerous other opportunities were spurned by some individual errors and weak decision making.

An excellent spirit was evident amongst the players of the competing schools and the games were played without any incidents.

A special word of thanks to Wittedrif who undertook the long journey from the Western Cape.

Thanks to all referees who offered their time for this thankless task.
